Google Photos App Now suggests Photos to share

Google Photos app becoming more social by the day. Google announced a few cool things were coming to Google Photos back at I/O, but there was no date for the rollout. Apparently today is the day. Both Suggested Sharing and Shared Libraries are rolling out to all devices, employing Google's machine learning muscle to make it easier to share photos with friends and family.
Suggested Sharing will be available in the new Sharing tab, which tracks all your photo sharing activity. At the top, you get a series of sharing suggestions based on what you've shared in the past. Google Photos can even identify special events like a wedding or other gathering, then suggest sharing it to certain contacts. Sharing works with SMS or email for contacts that don't have Google Photos, too.
Shared Libraries take the smart suggestions a step further. You can set up a Shared Library with a contact so all the photos you take are automatically shared. You can share all the photos you take this way, or limit it to photos of certain people (based on facial recognition) or a particular date. On the other end, the person you have shared with can choose to copy all the pictures you share to their library or only certain ones.
Users can also share pictures by sending them a link via text or email to people who don’t even use Google Photos.
The new features are rolling out on iOS, Android and web and will complete by the end of the week.

World's Fastest Android Phone OnePlus 5 Beats Iphone 7 Plus in a Speed Test

The New smartphone from the OnePlus has just set a new record as the first android phone to beat an Iphone device in a speed Test. The two smartphones are very much similar to each other in looks and some specs.
Smartphone comparison reviews focus on the speed tests each smartphone can manage when carrying out certain tasks. Benchmarks, such as the Geekbench, have been used to compare phones for as long as smartphones became mainstream. However, a new test has been launched and it doesn’t rely on the technical parts of the device. Rather than running benchmarks for the devices, users on YouTube and other video channels have devised ways of comparing the speed of devices by how fast they launch an app for the first time, and how fast the same app can be launched from memory. And, for the first time, an Android device has beaten an iPhone.
In the tests, the same app was launched on both devices at the same time and the time taken to fully launch it was measured. In this test, the iPhone 7 Plus was quicker than the OnePlus 5 by a small margin. The second test entailed opening the same app from the memory of the phone. In this regard, the OnePlus 5 took the title of being the faster device of the two in what becomes the first time an iPhone was ever beaten by an Android phone.

It should be known that the iPhone 7 Plus has 3GB of RAM while the OnePlus 5 has 8GB. It is thus only reasonable that this large RAM would make it easier to recall data than the smaller one found in the iPhone. However, other devices with better specs on paper have failed to beat the iPhone as seen from flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel series of phones.
Furthermore, one of the reasons why OnePlus 5 was able to load apps faster than iPhone 7 Plus is its app animations, which are displayed while launching and closing apps. While iOS 10 has rather extensive animations that take you into and out of the app, OnePlus' animations are shorter in comparison and end up giving the edge to the smartphone.

While OnePlus has been accused of manipulating the benchmark scores with OnePlus 5, there is no doubt that the smartphone indeed delivers snappy performance. As it packs an impressive 8GB of RAM and comes with the Snapdragon 835 SoC, it is hard to imagine that the smartphone can face hiccups in terms of performance.

The OnePlus 5 looks very much like the iPhone 7 Plus from the camera position, the flash, the position of the logo and dimensions. Maybe, OnePlus has created a better iPhone than Apple.

Google Has officially Replaced Google Talk with Hangouts

Google has finally killed off its Google Talk service and has replaced it with Hangouts, as promised in MarchGoogle said: “Hangouts offers advanced improvements over Google Talk such as group video calling and integration with other Google products. With the introduction of Hangouts Meet and Hangouts Chat, which add further improvements in meetings and team collaboration, it is now time to say goodbye to Google Talk”.
Gtalk was started in 2005 and the beginning of the end started from 2013. When it was launched, Google introduced it as a simple chat experience for Gmail service users. Hangouts, meanwhile, is now being used by Google as a business application, now that the company has several new messaging services like Google Duo and Android Messages. Before this, Gmail users had the option of switching between Gtalk and Hangouts.

Despite stopping its services for Google Talk, the company still has an array of messaging services to offer including AlloDuo, Hangouts and Android Messages. But it now looks like Google wants to clearly define each of its messaging apps to serve different purposes. It also wants to push its Allo chat app and Duo video calling app as the the ones general users should choose over Hangouts.
Over the past few months, Google has improved Hangouts a lot. For instance, it does support group video calling and is tightly integrated into Google ecosystem. In March, Google announced that it would split Hangouts into two products: Hangouts Meet and Hangouts Chat. Hangouts Meet would focus on video conferences, while Hangouts Chat would be focused on instant messaging.

how to turn off the "new map" Feature on Snapchat

The New Snap Map feature, part of a regular update, allows users to share their location with friends using a searchable map and it is tagged as a fun way to share snaps of public events.

But, tech commentators have been quick to point out that it shows a user's location every time they open the app, not just when posting 'Snaps for Our Story'.

Reasons to turn Off The New Snap Map

* Your partner says they've got work to do at home and can't meet up in the evening as planned. You open Snapchat that night and see your partner is somewhere else chilling.

* By leaving the app on, you broadcast your location and other users could easily find out where you live.

* You keep bumping into your Ex in public places and you can't figure out how they know where you're going to be. Little do you know, your ex is stalking you using Snap Map.

* Your friends tell you they're not available and you think nothing of it until you open Snapchat and see most of them are in the same place. Later on, you find out they're at a party and you weren't invited.
* You take a 'mental health day' from work and decide to hit the beach and read. You're friends with the boss on Snapchat... and she can see you are at the beach.

How To Turn off Snap Maps

Snap Maps is technically opt-in. It doesn't take effect until you update the app and go through its new updated features. Once you do that, though, it's fairly straightforward (as far as Snapchat goes) to opt-out of sharing your location with others. If you’re opening the app for the first time after the update, Snapchat will walk you through a step-by-step tutorial on how to use the Snap Map. First, it’ll show you how to pinch and zoom in the camera tool to access the map. Next, it’ll ask who you want to see your location.
You get three choices: all your friends, select friends, or only me. Choosing “only me” activates what Snapchat calls Ghost Mode. This makes your avatar disappear from others’ maps; you can see others but they can’t see you. Great for crooks! But remember,  your phone’s sensors can still track your location.
To turn off location data altogether, you’ll need to visit your phone's settings where you can scroll down to Snapchat, click on “location” and choose to never share.
If you’ve already gone through the tutorial and want to change who can see you on their map, that's easy, too.
Open Snap Map and click on the setting menu in the right hand corner, where you can decide who gets the privilege of tracking your every move.

How To Use Snapchat's New Snap Map: To Know your Friends Location

Snapchat has just unveiled a new feature that encourages its users to get together in real-life instead of viewing each other's experiences through a screen.
Called Snap Map, the feature lets any user share their current location, which will then appear on friends' maps and will update accordingly when users open the app. The company has begun rolling the feature to iOS and Android users.
"We've built a whole new way to explore the world! See what's happening, find your friends, and get inspired to go on an adventure!" announces Snap.
Snap recently snapped up mapping app maker Zenly in what was likely one of its largest acquisitions ever, TechCrunch reported Wednesday.
And it looks like Snapchat's parent company is already using Zenly's technology.
Snap Inc., bought Zenly for somewhere between $250 million to $350 million, according to TechCrunch. It's not clear when it completed the acquisition.
French-based Zenly created a location app that allows users to see where their friends are, but in a way that doesn't drain their phones' batteries. Popular in Europe, the Zenly app feeds on teenagers' fear of missing out. Users return to the app again and again to make sure they're not missing out on a hot party or event with their friends.
One reason Zenly was likely a hot acquisition target compared to makers of other location-tracking apps is that its app is more power efficient. Instead of constantly monitoring users' locations — and running down their phones' batteries in the process — the app only determines them when their friends look them up on their phones.

How To Use Snapchat's New Snap Map

Simply open Snapchat and elect to share your location with either all friends, select ones, or not at all via Ghost Mode. A user's location won't be shared if they've stopped using the app for several hours. That said, location sharing will be turned off by default, and you may choose to turn it on at any time.
To access the Snap Map screen, you have to perform a pinch gesture — just like zooming in or out on a photo — on the Snapchat camera homescreen. The app will bring up a virtual map populated with icons, called Actionmoji, representing friends and their location. Tapping these icons will either show their Stories or give you the option to hit them up and make some traveling plans.
The app automatically picks Action emojis for the user based on location, what day is it, or other metrics.
As one can imagine, the Snap Map also doubles as an alternative way to view people's Stories beyond the regular Stories feed and the Story Search feature. In the map, a user can see "heat" colors indicating that there are a lot of Stories being uploaded in that area, possibly because there's a concert, a major festival, or something along those lines.

WhatsApp is ending support for some mobile platforms soon

In time for its eighth anniversary, WhatsApp has decided to announce the dates when it is ending support for certain mobile platforms including Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread and BlackBerry’s BlackBerry 10 OS. The company has warned owners of devices running the affected platforms that some features of the messaging app would no longer function for them when the specified dates arrive.
WhatsApp clearly does not want to reduce its user base too early. With over 1.2 billion monthly active users in February, WhatsApp is available on all mobile platforms like BlackBerry OS, Nokia S40, Nokia S60, and older versions of Android. Recently, the company announced extension of its services on BlackBerry OS and Nokia S40 platforms. It has now officially announced that smartphones running Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread and older versions will continue to be supported by the app till February 1, 2020.
Starting with Android, the versions 2.3.7 Gingerbread and older version will support services until a significant time span of February 1, 2020. However, according to recent Android version distribution data released by Google, there are a limited number of devices powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with the version having just a 0.8 percent share of active devices.

The company further mentions in the blog post that the Nokia S40 and BlackBerry OS (including BlackBerry 10) platforms will support WhatsApp till December 31, 2017 and December 31, 2018 respectively, which we recently mentioned in a report and wherein the end-of-life timeline for Nokia S40 devices was thought to be a typographical error. In addition, the eligible devices running Windows Phone 8.0 and later will too keep WhatsApp support till December 31, 2017. Meanwhile, Nokia S60 devices will stop being supported by the app by the end of this month.

They gave reasons that, they will no longer actively develop for these platforms, some features may stop functioning at any time.
Last year they announced that they would stop providing support on older mobile operating systems and devices like Windows Phone 7, iOS 6, BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Android 2.1, and Android 2.2 by the end of 2016. However later, the deadline got pushed back for few mobile platforms to June 2017. Yet again, the deadlines were changed to the aforementioned timeframes but only for select platforms. For now, it's unclear whether Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 will continue to be supported.

“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone,” WhatsApp stated in the blog post.
