First bank transfer code - USSD*894# Quick Banking

Transfer of funds from one account to the other has never been simple until the introduction of Internet banking which paved the way for other related services that grants 24 /7 access to banking services online (First bank transfer code) to carry out banking transactions without visiting the bank.
                                          First bank transfer code
894 is a quick, convenient, secure and easy way to perform your banking transactions (transfer money, check balance, buy airtime, pay bills and lots more) anytime and anywhere, using any type of phone without need for internet connectivity or data.

Once you have a FirstBank account with a linked debit card, a phone number profiled for SMS alert and a mobile phone, you are just one dial away from enjoying the unbeatable 894 experience.

Banking transactions can now be performed on the go irrespective of location or time as there is no worry of internet connectivity or a token device, but only a Personal Identification Number (PIN). To send money, simply dial *894*Amount*Account Number#; select beneficiary bank; confirm amount, beneficiary name and enter five-digit PIN; then select account to debit. For airtime recharge: simply dial *894*Amount# to recharge for self; to recharge for others, dial *894*Amount*Phone Number# and enter five-digit PIN. FirstBank customers can transfer up to N100,000.00 per day and recharge airtime up to N10,000.00 per day. To generate account mini statement, dial *894*Account Number#, and to check account balance, the magic code is *894*00#.

How to transfer money - First bank to First Bank and other Banks without Internet

First Bank transfer code

Ensure you have enough Balance in your account to make the transfer and dial *894*amount*Account number# and select Destination bank to send money.
The account name you're transferring money to will be displayed for verification purpose.
You will be required to enter your 4 Digit ATM Card PIN if this is your first transaction and also create a 5-digit code that will be used to complete transfers.
NOTE: The code must be dialed from the Phone number linked with your First bank Account. (The number you receive transaction SMS alerts on)

The first bank USSD Transfer option is now as easy as other banks transfer codes I've used.
Users of First bank who don't use a smartphone, don't data or can't go to the bank especially on weekends like this, you have no option than to use the First Bank USSD code for transfers.

Alternatively, you can choose to download the First Bank Mobile Application, get registered by entering your ATM Card details to link your account with the App but transfers will require that you obtain a hardware from first bank branch or use soft-token (SMS codes) which sets a 200,000 limit on daily transactions.

So, enjoy Quick Banking with USSD FirstBank transfer Code *894#

Forget 4K TVs — 8K televisions are already here

Though 4K TVs remain short on Ultra High Definition 4K content outside of some streaming services and Blu-ray discs, three of the biggest television manufacturers are pushing the limits of screen resolution even higher by introducing their own 8K sets.

8K screen viewed from just 7 feet away is going to look sharper than a 4K TV
“The time has come for us to champion the next era in screen resolution,” Samsung U.K. TV marketing director Guy Kinnell said at that firm’s press conference Thursday morning at the IFA tech trade show here. “Viewers can see what they’ve never seen on a TV before.”

But the 8K sets introduced by Samsung, LG and TCL—each offering 33,177,600 pixels instead of the 8,294,400 pixels found on 4K TVs—don’t deserve your dollars. They offer exponentially less stuff to watch in their native resolutions, the extra pixels are noticeable by the human eye at most viewing distances, and they use more power.

“8K is overkill,” said Mark Vena, senior analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy. In this case, more is not better. It only equals more money gone from your bank account.

Samsung, LG and TCL’s 8K debuts

Samsung put the biggest emphasis on 8K at IFA, showing off 65-inch, 75-inch, 82-inch and 85-inch sets without announcing prices or shipping dates. Those details won’t come until October.

At its press conference, the Korean firm pitched 8K as a logical answer to a steady increase in screen sizes and suggested that its software’s ability to upconvert 4K footage would solve the problem of having nothing to watch in 8K.

At Samsung’s exhibit, a highlight reel showed clips originally produced in standard definition, high-def and 4K, alongside 8K-enhanced versions of each. The 4K clips enhanced to 8K showed the least difference, especially from more than a few feet away, while HD video shown in 8K looked meaningfully sharper. But an SD clip of two TV anchors enhanced to 8K left the announcers looking disturbingly plastic.

LG only announced one 8K set, an 88-inch OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV. OLED screens offer better contrast ratios and are much thinner than the LED-backlit LCDs that dominate the market, but also cost a lot more.

Is my 4K TV about to become obsolete?

No. 1080p TVs aren’t obsolete, though I would argue they are inferior to today’s 4K HDR TVs. 8K resolution is an incremental upgrade over 4K, and valuable only at large screen sizes. Keep in mind that HDR is what really makes today’s TVs pop, and it is only in 65-inch screen sizes and above that 4K resolution is all that meaningful. Still, good luck buying a 1080p TV in any screen size over 40-inches. 4K is just the new standard now, and look, we’re all doing just fine, even if it is harder for some folks to get 4K content.

University researchers create app to extend Android battery life by up to 25 percent

Researchers at the University of Waterloo have figured out a way for Android multitaskers to get 25 percent more time out of a battery charge, though the particular scenario that takes advantage of this isn't a common one. And as Engadget reports, this battery saving has a few caveats.
extend Android battery life by up to 25 percent
If you're one of the chosen few to have Android 9 Pie running on your phone right now, then you have split-screen support, which is where Waterloo's "MultiDroid" app comes into play, although it has yet to be released to the public. In a nutshell, the app works by dimming the side of the screen that you're not interacting with at that moment.

As any mobile geek can tell you, simply having the screen on will be one of the biggest drains on your battery, second only to rendering 3D or VR, which remains challenging even for desktop and laptop PCs. According to the university, being able to selectively dim areas of the screen can extend your battery charge by 10 to 25 percent.

Note: This battery-saving technique only works with OLED screens, which are customarily reserved for expensive phone models.

Interested readers can check out the university's full report at the IEEE Access website.

But what are the odds that you'll get Android Pie?

While Android 9 is currently only available on Google's Pixel phones and the Essential PH-1, dozens of other devices are scheduled to be updated. Motorola currently leads the pack with eight, Sony is purportedly readying six phones, and Samsung has committed to Pie updates for its high-end models like the Galaxy S9 and Note 9.

Despite Google's recent inroads with Motorola and Sony, it continues to struggle overall with getting manufacturers and mobile network carriers to update older phones and launch new devices with the latest version of their operating system.

Android Oreo took eight months to come to the Galaxy Note 8, and one year to come to the Galaxy S8. Samsung has not committed to release dates for Android Pie updates on any of their devices. The Galaxy Note 9 came out earlier this month sporting 8.1 Oreo, just as 9.0 Pie was reaching store shelves.

According to Google's own statistics, only 12 percent of their phones are running Android Oreo, which came out last year; 30 percent of phones are still on the version before that, and 24 percent are still on Marshmallow, which was released to the general public nearly three years ago.

For reference, Apple states that over 80 percent of its users are on iOS 11, and only 14 percent remain on iOS 10. (iOS 12 is currently available in a public beta; a final version is expected next month.) Granted, Apple has far fewer devices to deal with, and it makes a lot of its own chips, so it's much less reliant on third parties for software updates. But the contrast remains stark.

In Summary:
Researchers at the University of Waterloo have designed an app that can extend your battery charge by up to 25 percent, although it currently only works with Android Pie and OLED screens.
Only a small handful of phones are currently running Android Pie, as Google continues to struggle with getting manufacturers and mobile network carriers to update older phones and launch new devices with the latest version of their operating system.

Over 90GB worth of files accessed by Australian teenager who hacked Apple’s network multiple times

Court documents reveal that a 16-year-old hacker from Australia allegedly broke into tech giant Apple’s computer systems and may have downloaded internal files.
90GB worth of files accessed by Australian teenager
The Age newspaper reports that the teenager’s actions were motivated by an admiration for the company, and that the boy kept the stolen files in a folder entitled “hacky hack hack.” The teen reportedly downloaded over 95 gigabytes of data and accessed customer accounts without exposing his identity.

The Australian Federal Police searched the teen’s home last year, the court documents state, which produced two laptops, a mobile phone and a hard drive that matched the intrusion reported by Apple. The reports also reveal that the boy boasted about his activities on the encrypted messaging app, WhatsApp.

“Two Apple laptops were seized and the serial numbers matched the serial numbers of the devices which accessed the internal systems,” a prosecutor said. “A mobile phone and hard drive were also seized and the IP address … matched the intrusions into the organisation. The purpose was to connect remotely to the company’s internal systems.”

The Age goes on to report that the investigation began when Apple became aware of the intrusion and contacted the FBI, who passed the case over to the Australian Federal Police.

Apple spoke out Friday to reassure users that no customer data was compromised in the breach.

“At Apple, we vigilantly protect our networks and have dedicated teams of information security professionals that work to detect and respond to threats,” a company spokesman told Guardian Australia in a statement.

“In this case, our teams discovered the unauthorized access, contained it, and reported the incident to law enforcement. We regard the data security of our users as one of our greatest responsibilities and want to assure our customers that at no point during this incident was their personal data compromised.”

The teenager later told police that he’d dreamed of one day becoming an Apple employee. The boy’s defence attorney said at one point that his client had become so well known in the international hacking community that exposing the details of the case could expose him to risk.

Dr. Suelette Dreyfus, a privacy expert with the University of Melbourne, told Guardian Australia that a punitive sentence would be “a waste of that potential.”

“I have researched a number of teen hacker cases internationally. Almost all these teens grew out of the technology boundary-pushing of their youth, and then went on to live useful lives and contributing to society. Putting them in prison is often a waste of that potential.

“Young people often make mistakes when they are exploring and rule-breaking especially online – including boasting about their exploits. It’s not right, but for tech teens, it can be a part of growing up … there’s usually a really worried teen and family at the end of this sort of court case,” Dreyfus explained.

The boy, whose name could not be made public because he is a juvenile offender, will be sentenced on Sept. 20.

Apple recently became the world’s most valuable company, valued at over $1 trillion.

Google Pay now supports web browsers on PC, iOS: Here are its benefits

The fast, easy, and free way to send money to friends and family. If they have an email address or phone number, you can pay them with Google Pay – whether you're going to order that pizza, or sending money halfway across the country. No more IOUs. No more bank transfers. Just an instant way to pay using the debit cards already in your wallet. Send or request money.

Google Pay
Google has announced the expansion of its Google Pay payment service to more devices. Google Pay is now available to access on the web for iOS and desktop, which means that the browsers on both the platforms, namely, Google Chrome, Safari, and Firefox will integrate Google Pay for any transactions. Google earlier this year merged Android Pay with Google Wallet into a single entity called Google Pay.
In a blog post, Google’s Product Management Director for Consumer Products, Gerardo Capiel, announced that besides adding new platforms for Google Pay, saving a credit/debit card to Google Pay on a Pixelbook will make it accessible on the web across devices. Google Pay will not require the user to input any payment details again once they have been saved. While checking out on Chrome or other browsers, Google Pay will automatically fill in all the billing and shipping details.

The most interesting feature that Google Pay brings to the disposal of the customers is the ability to update the details of the new cards if the old ones have been misplaced or lost. As soon as the user’s bank issues a new card, Google Pay will fetch the details automatically, so he/she doesn’t have to manually enter them again. Same is the case with the cards that have expired. On the issuance of a new card by the bank, the same will be automatically updated on Google Pay.

Google is also rewarding the users who use Google Pay app on their Android devices. There are rewards for making payments, as well as for inviting friends via referrals. Google Pay is now live in the US, Canada, Poland, Russia, Australia, and the UK.

Instagram releases Feature For Hiding "Bullying" Comments

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content.
Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or criminal behavior.

  cyberbullying instagram comments

The most common places where cyberbullying occurs are:

Social Media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter
SMS (Short Message Service) also known as Text Message sent through devices
Instant Message (via devices, email provider services, apps, and social media messaging features)
Email.

Instagram unveiled its latest plan to combat online bullying this week when it announced a new filter that hides comments that attack a person’s appearance, character, or threatens a person’s wellbeing or health
The anti-bullying filter is automatically on, and alerts Instagram to repeat problems with bullying, along with hiding bullying comments.

“It’s been our goal to make (Instagram) a safe place for self-expression and to foster kindness within the community. This update is just the next step in our mission to deliver on that promise,” Instagram co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom said in a blog post this week.
The new filter is an addition to last year’s offensive comment filter, which hides “toxic and divisive” comments aimed at “at-risk” groups.

Bullying prevention charity Kidscape called the measure a “positive step” but said that technology such as this filter isn’t the sole solution to online bullying. “A filter is no substitute for talking about what is acceptable and what is not, supporting each other and role modelling”, the charity said in a Tweet.

"Teaching young people about healthy communication online and reminding that there is a person at the other end of their message is important in building a safer online environment. It is also vital for adults to be role models and to demonstrate kindness and respect. While technology has a role to play, every person plays a part in making the internet a healthier, safer place" Kidscape said in a statement to Happiful.

Although bullying is not the fault of the person being bullied, Kidscape recommends the following steps to prevent bullying:
Don't respond: Never get involved in arguments online, as this will only escalate the situation and make it much worse.

Block the bullies: You can easily prevent cyberbullies from being able to contact you by following our cyber safe settings.

Increase your privacy: Unfortunately, some people use the internet to cause harm to others. Don't let this small group ruin your experience, but be sensible with the information you share. Follow our privacy guidelines to keep yourself protected.

Respect your online presence: It is easy to forget that the cyber world is the real world, and what you share online can have huge consequences. It is therefore so important that you always think before you post!

NCC Imposes N500,000 Fine on Networks that Violate DND Instructions

The Do-Not-Disturb service allows Telco customers to opt out of receiving promotional messages for 3rd Party services (Bulk SMS, VAS promos, etc.)

      dnd ncc fines telcos

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC has imposed a N500,000 fine on telcos that disregard the  Do-Not-Disturb (DND) instructions. Mr. Philip Eretan, Deputy Director, Licensing and Authorization at the NCC, issued the warning on Thursday. Mr. Eretan spoke at the Telecom Consumer Parliament.

This news is a big step in combating the long-standing issue of unsolicited calls and messaging.

Why is this an Issue?

Unsolicited messages (also known as Value Added Services) are a constant feature for Nigerian telecom subscribers. Value Added Services help share information about products and services that consumers could find useful. Of course, this is not peculiar to telcos, banking, education and many other sectors also employ the use of unsolicited messages.

However, the feature is being heavily abused. Nigerians have constantly been harassed with unsolicited messages from various service providers. Characteristically, the telecom operators themselves send out the most messages. Messages about low credit, data offers, new services, and caller tunes offers have completely taken over the inbox of most users.

The only way out is to block spam messages is to activate the DND feature. DND blocks unsolicited text messages about promos and services. And according to the NCC, the DND feature is active on 9 million telecom subscriptions.

NCC fines the DND feature is active
However there’s one problem: DND doesn’t block spam messages from telecom operators. Exploiting this, telecom operators in the country have continued to molest subscribers with needless messages.

NCC’s Fine Could Restore Normalcy to DND

To correct the situation of unsolicited calls, the NCC has imposed a 500,000 fine on telecommunication companies that violate DND instructions. The new fine would help strike a balance between providing useful value added services and controlling the flow of unwanted messages. As a matter of fact, NCC boss, Prof. Umar Danbatta has said consumers who activate the feature and telcos must observe the DND instruction.

Of course, it would be interesting to see how this imposition of fine plays out. But considering the huge N1.2tr fine NCC imposed on MTN two years ago, telecommunication companies would want to be cautious.

Apple Allowing users download all iCloud and Apple ID data

Apple is switching up its privacy policies to satisfy the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation, which takes effect May 25, Apple on Thursday announced they shall soon rollout an update to their website which will allow Apple users to download a copy of all of their personal data stored by the company.

Apple letting users download all iCloud and Apple ID data
Bloomberg reports that customers will be able to download a copy of the data stored across Apple’s apps and services, including their Contacts stored in iCloud, Calendar information, Photos, Music preferences, and more.

The report also notes how the company will allow users to delete their accounts without directly contacting Apple, and will give them the power to update/correct personal information and disable their Apple ID account on-demand.

"The iPhone maker said it will update its web page for managing Apple IDs in coming months to let users download a copy of all their data stored with the company. The site will also let customers correct personal information, temporarily deactivate their account, and completely delete it."
The data trove will be accessible through the company's Apple ID Web portal. People will also be able to correct personal information, temporarily deactivate an account, or delete one entirely.

The options will come to Europe in early May before spreading to other regions. People were previously able to accomplish the same tasks, but typically only by contacting Apple and requesting it.

Today's iOS and tvOS updates also include notes better detailing Apple's privacy policies, and how data is used in individual apps. New iconography highlights when an Apple app wants to share personal data.

In recent years the E.U. has often adopted a tough stance on privacy, for instance enacting a "right to be forgotten" from Google searches.

At this month's China Development Forum, Apple CEO Tim Cook called for stringent privacy safeguards —even though the Chinese government regularly snoops on residents and now has full access to local iCloud accounts if it wants it.

Facebook to prioritise local news

Facebook has declared another real change to its News Feed as it refocuses around "bona fide" content. The organization will now support news from nearby distributions. Facebook said this could increase "community engagement" by urging individuals to get involved.

 facebook-newsfeed-local-news
Writing in a Facebook post today, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook will start to showcase more stories from territorial newscasters with prompt impact. In case you're following a writer that stays close to you, you'll probably observe their substance higher in the News Feed. Nearby news posts which are shared by your companions will likewise have a higher possibility of being shown.
Facebook's not putting any hard confinements around what it considers a "neighborhood writer." According to the organization, a nearby news outlet is unified with joins that are for the most part tapped on by perusers in a little geographic region. This will profit territorial distributers that have a tendency to give scope of occasions in their nearby town or city.

Facebook said it's gotten client input from individuals who need to see more nearby news. It guaranteed that individuals who as often as possible read nearby stories will probably get included with their group, expanding metro engagement. The move could likewise cover a portion of the more troublesome national stories, influencing the News To bolster a less provocative place that makes more important engagement.

"Individuals often disclose to us they need to see more nearby news on Facebook. Nearby news encourages us ponder on the issues in our groups and influence our lives," said Zuckerberg. "Research recommends that perusing neighborhood news is specifically corresponded with city engagement. Individuals who realize what's occurring around them will probably get included and help have any kind of effect."

The change comes after Facebook reported an entire reexamining of the News Feed prior this month. The organization said it needs to enhance "individual prosperity" by refocusing the News Feed around collaborations with loved ones.

As a result of this, the general dispersion of news on Facebook is relied upon to diminish. Albeit neighborhood distributers will be affected by this, Facebook said the progressions reported today will help provincial news destinations to rank all the more exceptionally in their objective geographic zones.

Facebook's also trialling a new app section that's dedicated to local news and events. This initiative is separate from the local news priority bump in News Feed. The "Today In" feed is tailored to individual cities and is currently only available in select U.S. locations. Unlike the News Feed changes, publishers have to apply and be verified before they can display stories in Today In

Google Finalizes $1.1 billion deal for HTC design talent

Google's $1.1 billion arrangement to get a large portion of HTC's cell phone design division has authoritatively been finalized. Equipment SVP Rick Osterloh shared the news in a blog entry, hailing the landing of a "unimaginably gifted group to take a shot at far superior and more inventive items in the years to come."
       google-htc-design-deal
The arrangement includes more than 2,000 HTC engineers moving over to Google. They will all stay in Taiwan; Osterloh takes note of that Taipei is turning into Google's greatest building center in the Asia-Pacific area. HTC's agreement fabricating operations and VR division are not influenced, but rather a considerable larger part of the cell phone R&D group is joining Google, as indicated by a man comfortable with the issue.
The move speaks to a genuine extension of Google's equipment endeavors, and the most clear use of the new building ability is in its line of Pixel cell phones. Google worked with a subset of its new HTC enlists on an agreement for the Pixel and Pixel 2, as indicated by a source acquainted with the advancement, and now the organization will have a bigger R&D group in-house.

Google is as yet a little player as far as cell phones transported, however the Pixel telephones are pointed soundly at top of the line players like Apple and Samsung. Other Android makers "know why we're doing this," Osterloh tells Bloomberg in a meeting. "Honestly, Apple is doing extremely well in created markets."

While the Pixel line isn't exactly standard yet, the HTC bargain is a concentrated push to give Google's equipment division a moment help in data transfer capacity. "We don't need it to be a specialty thing," Osterloh disclosed to The Verge in a meeting a year ago. "We would like to offer items in high volumes in five years."

The 25 Most Frequently Hacked Passwords Of 2018

Security applications and service provider, SplashData, has published a list of the most frequently hacked passwords of the last year as they have always done Each December for the past seven years. The results are sadly predictable – year after year millions of us rely on simple word and number patterns, our birthdays, partner’s names, and, of course, “password” to keep our online accounts secure.

SplashData created the list using over 5 million hijacked passwords that were made public over the past 12 months, excluding those stolen from adult websites and any swiped during the Yahoo hack (which involved some 3 billion accounts). The majority came from users in North America and Western Europe.

While many on the list are fairly standard (“123123”, “Password”, “admin” etcetera), there were a couple of unexpected entries, including “monkey” and “whatever”. Others were a little more topical – a very cynical (and entirely appropriate) "trustno1" snuck in at number 25 this year.

The list does have a serious purpose, though. The team at SplashData hope this list will make people think a little more about safety online and encourage users to take active steps to keep their digital data secure against hackers.

“Unfortunately, while the newest episode may be a fantastic addition to the Star Wars franchise, ‘starwars’ is a dangerous password to use,” Morgan Slain, CEO of SplashData, explained in a press release.

Hackers are using common terms from pop culture and sports to break into accounts online because they know many people are using those easy-to-remember words.”

“Football” and “dragons” (a likely reference to Game of Thrones) also made the list.

Here’s the top 30:

1. 123456 (unchanged... for the fourth year in a row)
2. Password (unchanged)
3. 12345678 (up 1 from last year)
4. qwerty (up 2 from last year)
5. 12345 (down 2 from last year)
6. 123456789 (new)
7. letmein (new)
8. 1234567 (unchanged)
9. football (down 4 from last year)
10. iloveyou (new)
11. admin (up 4 from last year)
12. welcome (unchanged)
13. monkey (new)
14. login (down 3)
15. abc123 (down 1)
16. starwars (new)
17. 123123 (new)
18. dragon (up 1 from last year)
19. passw0rd (down 1 from last year)
20. master (up 1 from last year)
21. hello (new)
22. freedom (new)
23. whatever (new)
24. qazwsx (new)
25. trustno1 (new)

Please if any of these passwords are similar to yours, it may be time to switch up your passwords. Experts suggest stringing four simple but random words together. Length is key to making your password hack-proof – “correct horse battery staple”, for example, would take computer hackers 500 years to crack, plus it’s far easier to remember than a meaningless jumble of characters.
